Both Ashe County golf courses, Jefferson Landing and Mountainaire Golf Club are renowned for their excellent layouts and challenging holes. Jefferson Landing was designed by PGA winner, Larry Nelson and opened in 1991 to rave reviews. Mountainaire Golf Club is Ashe County’s oldest club and simply one of the best places to enjoy a leisurely round. Both clubs in Ashe County are located in well-maintained golf communities and are surrounded by some truly spectacular views of the NC Blue Ridge Mountains.
Take a short, thirty minute drive to the High Country of North Carolina and you can play at the phenomenal NC Mountain courses found in Boone and Blowing Rock. Here one can play at public courses like Blowing Rock Country Club, Boone Golf Club and Willow Creek Course.
Ashe County’s neighboring region, Alleghany County NC, is also home to some great courses as well. Golfers can try their hand at playing the Olde Beau Golf Course, which is situated atop a 3,200 foot mountain on land that was once owned by North Carolina’s tobacco king, R.J. Reynolds. Alleghany County’s other beautiful course is the New River course, which has long been a favorite among locals in our area
with its exceptional layout and fair green fees.
