Ashe County NC Schools
Ashe County is a charming, rural county in Western North Carolina that has several small, friendly communities throughout. Residents enjoy a slower pace of life here, and relish living amongst such gorgeous natural areas like the Blue Ridge Parkway and the NC New River. On this page we’ve tried to provide a little bit of helpful information to those relocating to Ashe County with school-aged children.

The Ashe County Schools system is comprised of five schools; three elementary, one middle school and one high school allowing for small class sizes and individualized attention for students. Total student enrollment for Ashe County schools is approximately 3,200.

All five of the Ashe County schools have a tradition of excellence, and the Ashe County school system is known for being above average in areas of academics, after school activities, and athletics. All of the schools in Ashe County NC are acknowledged as being high performing schools with two of them being recognized as Honors Schools of Excellence. In fact, Ashe County Middle School is named one of the National Middle Schools to model because it meets and exceeds the standards of being academically excellent, developmentally responsive, and socially equitable. This is a school where students work and play hard as well as commemorate achievement.

Attending the Ashe County NC Schools is a “win-win” situation for students as well as parents, as the school system closely communicates with parents and community volunteers. If you are looking to transfer your child to the Ashe County school system please bring a certified birth certificate, immunization records and a proof of address with you. Former report cards and standardized testing records are also helpful information to have on hand when transferring your child to one of our acclaimed schools.
