Ashe County Medical Care
Ashe County has excellent emergency and medical care options for residents and those visiting with us. Ashe Memorial Hospital, located in Jefferson, provides Ashe County’s residents and visitors with quality medical care and has for many years. Ashe Memorial Hospital first opened its doors in 1941 and provided extensive medical care to the rural communities throughout the county. Today, Ashe Memorial Hospital is the only West Jefferson hospital, and operates with 76 care beds, several surgeons and numerous specialists and other practitioners.

Ashe Memorial Hospital completed a few recent renovations to the bed units and the Obstetrics Department got a full face life, and today the newly created, Wilma Vannoy Birthing Center operates with the latest technologies. With new facilities and a brand new wing, the Ashe Memorial Hospital provides the best in medical care to those lucky enough to be in Ashe County.
